Charles has 45 years of experience in pipeline construction, operations, maintenance, management and consulting. For the last six years, of his 30 year career, with Colonial Pipeline Co. he has worked with people and teams in all parts of the organization as leader of their Operational Excellence program – designed to eliminate pipeline leaks, spills, and errors. A human factors program was the critical component of Operational Excellence. He has provided human factors and organizational consulting with many other pipeline companies, including the comprehensive analyses of eight pipeline control centers. He has led and participated in task analysis, time and task workload study, cognitive workload study and alarm study at Colonial Pipeline. Charles is a regular presenter at Southern Gas Association, American Gas Association, API Pipeline Conferences and Control Room Forums drawing from his extensive experience on topics related to fatigue, workload and training. He continues to maintain relationships and works closely with control rooms and PHMSA in regards to Control Room Management (CRM) compliance and best up-to-date practices.

Alicia is a results-oriented executive experienced in strategy, business development, operations, project management, process improvement and team leadership. In addition to eight years as an independent consultant, from 1996 – 2004, she served in several capacities at Colonial Pipeline Co., which included Leader, Products Movement, Customer Relations and Member of the Operations Leadership Team; Business Development Manager; Mergers & Acquisitions Coordinator; Associate Operations Manager and Chief of Staff to the Senior VP & COO. Alicia has experience in petroleum, transportation, supply chain, manufacturing, emerging technology and international events management that provides additional benefits to Pipeline Performance Group. She has a proven track record leading cross-functional teams to execute complex and transformational initiatives. Alicia is a self-driven team player who thrives in dynamic environments requiring flexibility, creativity, problem solving and innovation.

Dr. Terranova holds a Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology with a major in Human Factors from Old Dominion University. Michele, with 25 years of experience in Human Factors and User Interface Design, has worked in a vast array of environments such as nuclear, military, aviation and process control. She has held previous positions as the Director of Human Factors Research at Concord Associates, Inc. and was the Senior Research Scientist at The Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Michele has been involved in analysis, design, and evaluation of web sites and interactive systems in transportation (public and commercial), nuclear, military, and government. She has performed human factors consulting and training for eight pipeline companies. Michele has developed ergonomic designs for updated control centers, alarm management analysis and plan for reduction of alarms, SCADA display evaluations, human factors assessments and workload studies.

Tom has a master's degree in Communication and has enjoyed nearly twenty years involved with all aspects of professional training services, with fifteen years of experience at Colonial Pipeline. While in operations, Tom participated in emergency response, wrote and reviewed SOP’s, and properly reclassified alarms per Alarm Management. Some of Tom’s other operational expertise involved creating a HAZWOPER training course, and updating and documenting Operator Qualification training. He enjoys taking complex subject matter, repackaging and improving it so that others can more effectively learn and understand the information.

Greg, CRM Consultant, has over 28 years of experience in the oil and gas industry with expertise in pipeline hazardous materials transportation. Greg’s experience and knowledge include pipeline safety, compliance, operations, construction, maintenance, system integrity, and project management. Before becoming an independent consultant, Greg worked for more than 24 years at Colonial Pipeline Company in various influential operations and project leadership roles with increasing responsibilities, including Operations Manager, District Project Leader, Director of Safety Assurance and District Director of Operations. Within these positions, he influenced and shaped company culture and policies and helped drive organizational changes. In addition to the operational leadership positions held across the company, Greg also held various engineering roles within the System Integrity and Engineering departments. He was instrumental in developing, leading and managing system-wide integrity management programs, which drove change and improved the company’s integrity performance.

She is the owner and principal trainer for Kaizen Fitness in Kennesaw, Georgia. She has twelve years of experience and certifications from the American Council on Exercise (ACE) in fitness training and the International Sports Science Association in fitness nutrition and lifestyle coaching.

Dr. Leonard holds a Ph.D. from Georgia Tech in Industrial and Systems Engineering with an emphasis on Human-Integrated Systems. Katie’s 20+ years of experience has spanned a variety of industries including educational technologies, medical devices, banking, dashboard design, control rooms, mobile devices, consumer electronics and more. Katie has taught graduate level courses on mobile experience, usability, and business analysis; and is credited as contributing author to over 25 books, journal articles and conference papers on aspects of human factors research process, user-centered design, human-computer interaction and accessibility.

Whitney brings 11 years of consulting experience, including in the areas of project management, process improvement and strategic communications. Prior to joining the Pipeline Performance Team, Whitney served as an Associate at Booz Allen Hamilton in the firm’s Washington, DC and Atlanta, GA offices, where she managed critical projects for public sector clients, including the US Department of Defense, the Internal Revenue Service and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Whitney brings a conscientious and detailed approach to each of her projects, which include Control Room Management Plan (CRMP) development, workload and Human Factors assessments, and PHMSA Compliance Assurance Solution services. Whitney holds a BA from Harvard University and an MBA from Oxford University in England.

Katie, Director of Finance, manages the ongoing financial and accounting operations of Pipeline Performance Group. Her experience and skills in finance contributes to the overall success of the organization by efficiently managing PPG’s financial strategy including financial accounting, invoicing and reporting. She is a graduate of the University of Georgia and began her career in the Treasury department at The Wendy’s Company leading the modernization and compliance of their credit card and gift card programs. Katie, and her husband, Josh, live in Marietta, GA with their three daughters Emma Grace, Scarlet and baby Olivia. They are active in the community, their children’s school, and their church.

Debbie has more than 25 years of Gas Control experience. She started in a control room as a natural gas controller and quickly moved into the control room support aspects of controlling. She has expertise in Control Room Management (CRM), alarm management, pipeline operations, training, and SCADA development and maintenance. After 20 years working at Tennessee Gas Pipeline, Debbie became an independent consultant and has worked with many control rooms to develop and maintain CRM plans and procedures.

Christina, Human Factors, Training and Administrative Consultant, provides Human Factors expertise and Team Resource Management training for our clients. She also manages the administrative operations of Pipeline Performance Group. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Management (specializing in Human Resources (HR)) from the Florida State University, and a Master’s Degree in Systems Management from the Florida Institute of Technology. Christina held multiple HR management positions during her 20+ years working for a major contractor supporting the Department of Defense (DoD). Today, Christina continues to leverage her HR expertise as she works with small DoD companies, her local hospital board, and Pipeline Performance Group. Christina, her husband, and three children live in Southern Maryland where they are active with her band (Coastline), their children’s activities, their extended family, their church, and various outreach ministries.
